Delhi Construction Ban: Re-construction and demolition activities have been banned due to poor air quality in Delhi. The Air Quality Management Commission has taken this decision on Sunday (December 4) after the AQI went into the severe category. Earlier last month too, the Centre’s air quality panel had directed authorities to ban all construction and demolition activities in Delhi-NCR, except for essential projects.
A few days later, when the AQI improved, that ban was lifted. However, now once again in view of the deteriorating air quality, this ban has been implemented. Delhi recorded an AQI of 400 on Sunday, which was worse than the AQI recorded on Saturday.
AQI increasing in Delhi
India Meteorological Department (IMD) scientist Vijay Soni had told news agency ANI that the air quality in the national capital is in the severe category with an AQI of around 400, though the air quality of the national capital is likely to improve from today evening. .

According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research, the Air Quality Index (AQI) of 323 was recorded in Delhi on Saturday. Delhi’s air quality remained in the ‘very poor’ category for the fifth consecutive day. AQI 335 was recorded on Friday morning.
Meanwhile, the AQI in Noida too reached the ‘very poor’ category at 379. An air quality index from 0 to 100 is considered good, while 100 to 200 is considered moderate, 200 to 300 poor, 300 to 400 very poor, and 400 to 500 or above severe.
